NIOB as an awarding body under the National Skills Qualification Framework
The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) licensed the Institute on the 4th of November, 2014 as an Awarding Body for the training of Artisans and Craftsmen in the Nigeria Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF).
Further to this, the Institute in 2015, developed the first National Occupational Standard (NOS) for the construction industry. It was validated by industry stakeholders and has since become a standard for construction works in Nigeria.
The Institute has been engaged in the assessment and certification of Artisans and Craftsmen for the following projects:
- The assessment and certification of 690 candidates across Kaduna, Kano and Katsina States under the Mafita Programme, sponsored by UK Department For International Development (DFID) and facilitated by Adams Smith International.
- The assessment and certification of 16,800 (Batch 1) and 10,529 (Batch 2) candidates across Nigeria under the Federal Government of Nigeria, National Social Investment Office (NSIO), N-Power ‘NBuild’ project which is currently ongoing.
This is all made possible through the Institute’s Artisans & Craftsmen Qualifications Awarding Board (A&CQAB)
